I’m a violinist and so whatever knowledge I have about musical instruments is limited to strings–I know absolutely nothing about woodwind instruments.
So, to make a long story short, I’m interested in learning the flute but I have no idea what student flutes are reputable and durable. I’m willing to spend up to 0.
Can anybody help me? Thank you so much for your help!

I’m a flute player for 3 years but I’m clueless about the kind of flutes to buy. I’ve been told a lot, though, that Yamaha makes a good student ‘step up flute’, open-holed. Since I’m going into high school this year, I really need a better flute! But I don’t know what to buy and how much money it will cost!
But since I’m just about convinced Yamaha is the best for me, does anybody know the EXACT model that is best for what I’ve described, and how much it should cost?
Yes I’ve talked to the owner of a music store and an employee who has a degree in flute performance, as well as my old (awesome) band director who’s instrument was flute, and they all said Gemeinhardt isn’t what it used to be.
